The Raspberry Pi is a series of small single-board computers based on the Broadcom system on a chip (SoC) with an integrated ARM-compatible central processing unit (CPU) and on-chip graphics processing unit (GPU).

Having grown through 4 generations since it first release in Febuary 2012, and avalible in various physical configurations, the Raspberry Pi can be used from a desk top computer to an unending array of embeded apllictions.

The Raspberry Pi Foundation’s primary objective for development of the Rasspberry Pi is to promote teaching of basic computer science in schools and in developing countries.
